Just came across Ryan Hemsworth’s little “secret songs” account/label. Well, thanks for reposting your second song on it so that I could discover it Ryan!
Direct from their soundcloud page:
note from schwarz and 333 boyz: “SCHWARZ X 333 BOYZ IS: LIAM MORRISON, SAM LUBICZ AND ADAM SCHWARZ. LIAM IS AN ARIES, SAM IS A PISCES AND ADAM IS A CANCER. OUR FAVORITE RAPPER IS E-40 AND OUR FAVORITE ROCK BAND IS BLINK 182.”
note from ryan: “i’ve been following Schwarz for a while because he kind of embodies everything i find interesting about an artist in 2014. he’s ultra feminine with a super heavy sound; he has a sense of humour but his dark side can always be seen; and his versatility could be easily confused with indecision. i think that’s exactly what i love though, he’s from the internet age of consuming every form of music online, and now him and 333 Boyz can just open their laptops and make an experimental wild wild west track that pulls in elements of bounce, trap, and jersey… and i really can’t turn it off.”
So, it’s been a little while… Between working about 30 hours a week, completing classwork for 5 online classes and 1 on-campus lab, writing for the school paper, and of course keeping up with this little blog here; I managed to squeak up a couple of mixes here and there. One of them is this sweet nugget of downbeat bass-y decadence I like to call Slow and Low, and yes it is a reference to the Beastie Boys because they just rule. The first half of the mix is a bit slower and heavier on the dubstep side. The second half is a bit more upbeat and hails to the trap vibes. As usual though, my mixes always build you up, shake you round and then bring you back down.
Oh, and I apologize for not writing anything lately. I finished up finals with As in all 6 courses (fuck yeah!) but the day that was all over with I got into a wreck while riding my scooter home from work and sprained but wrists. Although I am extremely grateful that was the worst of it. Hopefully I’ll be back to writing soon. Meanwhile, enjoy the mix! Download here.
Alright, time for a new spotlight my friends! Thanks to another music lover with awesome taste (shout out to Bambi!), I recently discovered this New York City based hip hop and trap producer: Branchez. Can’t really give ya any background/history on the guy, but the first track I’m posting here was apparently his first upload on soundcloud! Personally, I really dig his trap remixes more than his hip hop original tracks, but hey, you gotta learn how to make beats somewhere right? Either way, this dude is already tearing up clubs north and south of the border. He’s got several freebies available through his soundcloud and facebook pages, so go show some love!
Miles and Oscar Sach-Haber are Melbourne based musicians and producers. The brothers have been influencing each other since they were young and just started getting into producing dance music a couple of years ago. Blending hip hop, house, and their own talents on drums and guitars, they have begun a new era with the formation of Two Can. Expect to see more from these guys in the near future. Oh, and of course, be sure to like their Facebook page and keep up with their upcoming releases.
Another shining example of the exceptional talent found down under, Thomas Purcell is Wave Racer. Originally part of a much more disco house oriented outfit called Pablo J & The Lobsterettes, Thomas chose to branch off to pursue new styles and sounds. Mostly a 64-bit funky, hip hop sound. His latest track, Streamers is a gorgeous melody trip. His motto on his soundcloud page pretty much says it all, “I love vocoders and arpeggois”. Or as StoneyRoads put it “Envision Rustie cradling a vocoder whilst petting a cashmere cat, and you’ve got an idea of what Wave Racer sounds like.”
And just cause it’s Friday and this is a freakin sweet remix…
