p.s. Quack is the new Duck Sauce EP, due out April 15th on Fools Gold Recs.
Alright, time for a new spotlight my friends! Thanks to another music lover with awesome taste (shout out to Bambi!), I recently discovered this New York City based hip hop and trap producer: Branchez. Can’t really give ya any background/history on the guy, but the first track I’m posting here was apparently his first upload on soundcloud! Personally, I really dig his trap remixes more than his hip hop original tracks, but hey, you gotta learn how to make beats somewhere right? Either way, this dude is already tearing up clubs north and south of the border. He’s got several freebies available through his soundcloud and facebook pages, so go show some love!
So, it’s a throwback with new twist… I know, not technically a true *throwback* for Thursday. Gimme a break, school + work + incompetent city reacting to snow = I’m kinda busy. Anyway, if you haven’t caught on yet, The Golden Pony is turning out some sweet remixes. Click here to jump to their download link. Follow ’em. Facebook, Soundcloud. Out.
Seems I picked the perfect day to feature Mr. Fastback. He just sent out this sweet new track for his followers. Hip hop meets disco meets funk meets electro. Mad love here for Fastback.
Another shining example of the exceptional talent found down under, Thomas Purcell is Wave Racer. Originally part of a much more disco house oriented outfit called Pablo J & The Lobsterettes, Thomas chose to branch off to pursue new styles and sounds. Mostly a 64-bit funky, hip hop sound. His latest track, Streamers is a gorgeous melody trip. His motto on his soundcloud page pretty much says it all, “I love vocoders and arpeggois”. Or as StoneyRoads put it “Envision Rustie cradling a vocoder whilst petting a cashmere cat, and you’ve got an idea of what Wave Racer sounds like.”
And just cause it’s Friday and this is a freakin sweet remix…
